Lockes endow engineering scholarship (Engineering College Chennai – engineering.tamu.edu)

The Lockes used a rollover from an Individual Retirement Account (IRA) for the scholarship gift, funded through the Texas A&M Foundation, to create the Lenora K. and Robert R. Locke ’49 Engineering Endowed Scholarship in The Dwight Look College of Engineering.

“We wish to thank Mrs. and Mr. Locke for their willingness to endow this scholarship that will assist high achieving, and financially deserving students. This gift will be a long lasting commitment to future Aggies studying engineering,” said Don Birkelbach, assistant vice president of development for the Texas A&M Foundation.

The recipient ideally will have completed at least 30 hours at Texas A&M, is classified as a sophomore or junior and maintains a GPA in the range of 2.5 to 3.0.

Robert Locke, Class of 1949Free Articles, earned his B.S. at Texas A&M in chemical engineering.

The Lockes’ son graduated Texas A&M in 1985 with a B.S. in petroleum engineering and a master’s in business administration. Lenora and Robert are long standing century club members of The Association of Former Students. In addition they are members of the Aggie Real Estate Network as well as the A&M Legacy Society.
